The ROKCC is a registered charity in Ireland  and its primary purpose is fundraising for other charities by organising the annual Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle and its alternative virtual 170km My Way event. Without participating cyclists, we could not have distributed €18.3m to very worthy causes since 1982. In 2023 there are 5 main beneficiary charities and 7 Tier 2 beneficiary charities. The main beneficiary charities have their own registration form whilst the Tier 2 charties are listed below when you answer Yes, I am a Tier 2 Charity Supporter.

Comfort For Chemo Kerry

Comfort for Chemo Kerry’s aim is to build a stand-alone, state of the art Centre of Excellence for the patients of Kerry who require chemotherapy and oncological treatments. We will strive to ensure that the best care available is delivered in an environment that is welcoming, reassuring, comfortable and dignified.
All funds raised through the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle 2023 will be used to provide chemotherapy suites, isolation facilities, spacious clinical areas, outpatient units as well as counselling and support rooms for patients.

CRITICAL

Emergency Medical Response

We provide pre-hospital emergency care to critically ill and injured patients in their local communities in both rural and urban areas in Ireland, with experienced Volunteer Emergency Medicine Doctors and Medical Responders on the ground. Their rapid response vehicles are kitted out with specialist medical equipment including defibrillators, chest compression systems and suction units as well as advanced medical and trauma kits. This allows the medics to perform complex - often lifesaving - medical procedures, wherever and whenever they’re called upon.

The ROKCC can help us to kit out our volunteers so they can continue their life saving work. It costs an average of €25,000 to establish an Advanced level Volunteer Doctor in the community and €120,000 to put a new Critical Care response vehicle on the road.

The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle, Saturday July 1st 2023 supporting 

Kerry Mountain Rescue 

Kerry Mountain Rescue is a voluntary emergency service that provides 24-7-365 ‘on call’ assistance to climbers and walkers in distress on the mountains and upland areas of Kerry and West Cork. The team comprises of 38 volunteers from all walks of life who are available to respond to emergencies in the mountains at any hour of the day or night, and often in the harshest weather conditions. The team is based in Killarney with an area of operation covering the mountains of the Iveragh, Dingle and Beara peninsulas. Team members are all experienced mountaineers and train regularly in specialist rescue disciplines such as casualty care, technical ropework for casualty extraction, helicopter winching, search management, navigation, radio communication and 4WD techniques.

Valentia Hospital

Valentia Hospital has been providing various levels of care to the people of Valentia Island and surrounding areas since 1871. There has been no break in the service we provide in 152 years. We recently completed a large extension to our existing building which comprised of 22 bedrooms, all in compliance with the most up to date HIQA standards. We need to install a generator capable of providing power to our now larger building and complete ancillary works. We also need to begin refurbishment of the older section of the building which we hope to complete in the autumn of 2023.
